The Ringwood Schoolboy Scramble Club was formed in the Autumn of 1967 by a small group of local enthusiasts, many of whom were related to each other, so the club was in those days very much a family affair. Schoolboy Scrambling in those days was a fast growing sport, and the Ringwood club were proud of the fact that they were among the pioneers of the movement and that we were one of the founder members of the British Schoolboy Motorcycle Association (BSMA) in November 1970.
Today's race meetings are now enjoyed by Youth competitors aged 6 - 18 years of age, along with two Adult open classes - AMX Open for the under 30's and the Veteran's (VMX) for the over 30's and Adult Novice rider's.

Ringwood MX - Rd 8 Club Champ - Foxholes - 30th May - Report

RINGWOOD MOTOCROSS CLUB - FOXHOLES - MAY 18th - ROUND 8 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

TEMPERATURES were high and the racing was hot when the Ringwood Motocross Club got into Club Championship action at Foxholes, near Salisbury, Wiltshire - for round eight of the 2010 Championship series.

The circuit owner had been busy all week putting his new grading system into action which had dug down deep and made the surface very light and fluffy on the technical rough and jumpy valley terrain. Some additional watering would have made this circuit perfect but with a strong wind and light chalky dust luckily this never proved much of a problem to the 120 or so competitors on the day.

From the terrible wet and muddy weather conditions at the start of this season for the smaller Junior 65cc riders, the hotter and dryer conditions are a blessing and with Harry Pritchard continuing his fine form in the Junior ranks at Foxholes collecting a fine second and two race wins the race is certainly on for the 2010 club championship. First race winner Harry Kimber settled for third in the second block and took a sixth place in the final to finish overall second whilst Louis Thomas was going great guns to finish third on the podium.

Tyler Rowe and Harrison Shepherd were both on a mission this week to dominate and win the Auto 50cc races. Rowe had a brilliant first race beating Shepherd into second and race two was reversed with Shepherd taking the chequered flag. Tyler Rowe eventually won the third moto when Shepherd's bike stopped whilst leading and he disappeared from the results with a DNF and Lee Percy took the runners-up mantle. Tyler Rowe went on to claim the overall victory from Lee Percy in second and Luke Williamson had a terrific day finishing in overall third.

There was never a dull moment when the Senior brigade roared from the gates and out of the first turn. Maximum man Ross Churchill never put a foot wrong and finished where he had left the last meeting winning all three races to claim overall victory at Foxholes. Hot on the pace was the equally fast Mitchell Bligh who this time collected a couple of seconds and a seventh to take overall runners-up from third overall Morgan Edwards who had some terrific battles as usual making it onto the podium.

A good turnout from the AMX Open class ensured the hotly contested racing continued for the spectators and this time new member Jackson Evans made no mistakes and stormed past the finish flag first each time to claim overall first with some superb jumping skills. A good return to the fold finishing in overall second was Jamie Tranckle who blasted to a third a good second and a fourth in the final whilst Daniel Riggs had some brilliant races to claim overall third.

Shaun Brooker and Simon Smart got the better of Paul Williams in the opening encounter of the VMX Open class with Williams finishing in third. Williams was back to his usual stylish and fast best in the remaining races to win both with Brooker settling for a couple of seconds behind keeping on the pace and keeping out the challenges from Smart who finished overall third.

Big Wheel 85cc action was again fast and furious with Fraser Viner continuing his dominance winning all three races and leaving the rest of the pack in his dust. Overall second was keenly contested with Andrew Fitzgerald having a brilliant meeting to finish overall second claiming a third and a couple of seconds nudging out Louis Schmidt who rode three good races but just could not catch the flying Welsh lad.

The final races of the day were this time the Small Wheel 85cc group. Another maximum from Joe Jefferies ensured his overall club championship points tally is looking healthy whilst Jorja Johnson again powered herself to three terrific results to claim overall runners-up from the fast improving Aaron Gordon who took the final podium place with a fine second a fourth and a good third in race three.
