Ringwood will host a 2 day race event at Ham Lane on Sunday 2nd & Monday 3rd May.
To book in please call Kerry Cutler on 07921 707792
The Ringwood Schoolboy Scramble Club was formed in the Autumn of 1967 by a small group of local enthusiasts, many of whom were related to each other, so the club was in those days very much a family affair. Schoolboy Scrambling in those days was a fast growing sport, and the Ringwood club were proud of the fact that they were among the pioneers of the movement and that we were one of the founder members of the British Schoolboy Motorcycle Association (BSMA) in November 1970.
Today's race meetings are now enjoyed by Youth competitors aged 6 - 18 years of age, along with two Adult open classes - AMX Open for the under 30's and the Veteran's (VMX) for the over 30's and Adult Novice rider's.

HAM LANE - SOUTHERN NATIONAL - MAY 2nd & 3rd.
AFTER a decade with no motocross, Ham Lane, near Petersfield, Hants, was back with a bang over the May bank holiday weekend when the Ringwood Motocross Club (BSMA) very successfully staged their 2010 Southern National on a circuit which was prepared perfectly and produced some fantastic quick racing.
This event really was a colourful spectacle with flags, banners, Paul Hardy on the live race commentary and noise, loads of it. The new look Ham Lane was just awesome, set inside a deep natural valley this circuit had everything a rider and spectator could wish for, steep hills, cambers table top jumps and a huge step up at the finish flag. In total almost 180 competitors gave the thumbs up over two days of gruelling intense racing where six full blocks of racing was completed.
After all groups had their two laps of practice it was to be the honour for the Senior class to take to the track and treat the large crowd of spectators to some breathtaking action for race one on the newly installed circuit. Daniel Maxey was on fire and took to the hilly terrain like a train winning race one followed in second by Darren Wingar who had his best race of the meeting. The racing was so close with Ross Churchill taking the honours in the next race and Morgan Edwards finished the day winning the final. Maxey took the chequers in both motos on the Monday although Edwards won the meeting overall with a good third a couple of fourths and an eighth place to add to the first days race win. Maxey finished the National in overall runners-up with Lewis Cave making the podium in third.
Jake Shipton won the AMX Open overall with some blistering displays but never has it his own way at all over the two days. Shipton started with a win on the Sunday only for Sam Simmons and Luke Blanchard to take the flag in that race order, with Shipton grabbing a couple of thirds. However, British Championship rider Dorren Coutts made to trip for Monday and put on a clean show to claim victory on the bounce although Shipton moved onto a 450f for the third race and won although this didn't count for much as it was a non-championship race. Eventually Jake Shipton took his spot on the podium in overall first with 211 points followed in overall second by Jackson Evans and Jamie Tempest in third.
Steve Lyons and Shaun Brooker fought it out at the front of the VMX Open encounters and so close was the racing between this pair that after two days only four points separated them. To be fare Lyons won four races compared to Brooker's one and his only mishap was in race three on the Sunday where he finished fourth. But with 219 points Steve Lyons was crowned Champion with Brooker settling for overall second ten points in front of Simon Smart who managed the third spot in this class.
Four clear race wins just was not enough for Fraser Viner to win the Big Wheel 85cc crown. After dominating the first day winning all that was put in front of him, the first race of the next day and a bad result which saw Fraser finish in eighth place while Mason Law who had been chasing Viner all weekend snatched a good race victory and with this added string of runners-up to go home winning the Southern National on 217 points, four better than Viner who finished the meeting in overall second ahead of Louis Shmidt who had a cracking weekends racing to stand on the podium in third.
There could not have been a more worthy winner for the start of the Small Wheel 85cc encounters than that of Jorja Johnson who's dad had secured and spent hours working on the circuit prior to Ringwood's big event. That first race win was soon followed up with a couple of thirds on day one and two more on the second to finish overall third. Joe Jefferies and Austin Eary were the ones making all the moves up at the front of the pack, especially Jefferies who if it had not been for a low tenth in the first race his collection of race wins in the remaining four races would of seen him Champion. As it was the consistency of Eary scoring a full house of runners-up places meant he was the overall winner whilst Jefferies had to settle for overall second.
Once again at a Ringwood event the Junior class was one of the largest all cramming on to the start line. The up and coming Sam Lycett had a magnificent first race taking the chequered flag with some real fast riding followed in second by Harry Pritchard. Pritchard made no mistakes in the remaining race's powering over the line each time to win four races and win the National on 223 points, eight ahead of Sam Lycett who settled in for overall second. Third on the podium went the way of Charlie Cole who had some terrific battles both days.
Newly crowned Best of British Auto Champion Daniel Breen added the Southern National title to his healthy growing trophy cabinet. Breen was the only rider at this event to score a maximum of race wins and with all others looking up to the British Champion as he took top spot onto the podium with 225 points. The raging battles were going on behind with Harrison Shepherd who finished with 209 points and Bradley Foley on 207 points overall both keeping the rest of the pack at bay. Shepherd was very consistent on day one with a brace of seconds followed up on the Monday with a third and a fourth as Foley was now getting to grips with the Ham Lane circuit and finished the event with two good seconds to add to his fourth and two thirds from the first day's encounters.
In all an excellent circuit and brilliant racing from all classes. The Ringwood MXC Committee would just like to thank Paul Cook and Wayne Johnson and track crew who made this circuit in just two weeks and made this meeting possible. Also to the many companies and individuals who all helped in the way of sponsorship. Many Thanks.
