Coventry Junior, Qualifier, Stratford, 25/4/10 - Report

The downpour in the early hours of the morning did nothing to disturb Coventry Junior Motocross Club’s plans for their 2nd Club Championship round at Stratford. If anything the rain was more useful than bothersome as it yet again turned out to be a glorious day.
The Open Class were the first entertain and Lee Bullock was in a race of his own as he stormed into the lead from beginning to end in all three races. Mitchell Bates also proved to be on top form as he rode superbly in second for all three races. Thomas Hambridge also rode three fantastic races to round out the top three.
Richard McDermott began his day in spectacular fashion in the AMX by taking the race one win ahead of Ricky Lethaby. However Ricky wasn’t to be beaten as he got the better of Richard in the final two races to take the overall win, with Richard second. Scott Hambridge also fought hard to keep others at bay to come in third for all three races and third overall.
Race one for the Seniors saw David Sweet take the race win. Harry Bradley had his best race of the day to fight off Emerson Jones to come in second. Race two and David rode another incredible race to take another race win. This time it was Jake Lord who battled through to second with Kurt Shorter picking up the pace in third. Race three saw Jake ride outstanding to decline David another win, with Kurt having another ace ride in third.
Daniel Neale was unstoppable in the Big Wheels as he flew into the lead for all three race wins. Nick Gray rode excellent to come in second for all three races, holding of Jack Geary who pushed him hard right to the end in third place.
Robert Yates rode an inspired race in the Small Wheels as he took all three race wins with a comfortable lead. In race one Harry Linton had a great ride to take second place with Danny Vieira in third. Race two and Harry once again successfully took the second the place position, but this time Mitchell Warhurst took the third position spot. Mitchell continued to improve in the final race as he made his way through to second, with Danny battling hard to take third. Overall it was Harry who took second with Mitchell in third.
Callum Green was on fire all day as he became the undisputable winner of the Juniors in all three races. Ethan Cooper was also on fine form as he took second in all three races ahead of Dylan Spencer, who had a great ride in third.
Race on for the Autos and Aaron Patstone took a grand lead to take the race win. Harry Ingram had his best race of the day to take second ahead of a fast charging Kyle Jones. Race two again saw Aaron keep up the pace to take the win, but this time Kyle was the one chasing him down. Harrison McCann got his head in the race and rode well to take third. In the final race Kyle picked up the pace to take the win away from Aaron, who pushed him all the way in second. Harrison again rode a strong race in third to take the overall third place, with Kyle and overall second and Aaron on top spot.
It was a most enjoyable weekend and cannot wait for the next one – let’s just hope the weather continues to co-operate!
Best wishes to Grant Smith –hope to see you back riding a.s.a.p.
