Hi we are Cornwall schoolboy scramble club, The club aim to give top class racing in and around the Cornwall area. The club was started in the early 70s to provide a safe place to discover the sport and is still very strong today, We welcome all new people to the sport and what with 2 new tracks this year to add to the list and the all new Fraddon moto parc being built for the club we have a lot to offer everyone wishing to race with Cornwall club. Our fixture list is packed this year with alot of great events and venues.

Cornwall SSC - Rd 5 Club Champ - Landrake - 23rd May - Report

The 23rd may saw the riders of Cornwall Schoolboy Scramble club arrive to the famous Landrake Moto Parc, near Saltash. An oncoming heat wave meant a lot of hard work to ensure great track conditions was put in by land and track owner Phil Congdon. The day resulted in a few riders taking serious injurys.AMX rider Frank James Opie took a bad crash resulting in a broken leg after trying to whip the main table top in practice. Tom Gibbons south west visiting rider also took a suspected broken leg after the seniors practice block. Club chairman Matthew Thomas also had his day ending short after breaking his shoulder. Despite all the serious accidents there was no need for the air ambulance at any time. So the racing soon continued after the short delays.
A large entry of AMX riders saw the club run 2 groups.
The groups were split between championship riders and visiting riders.
Fantastic riding was seen in both of the large AMX groups.
The championship racing began with Daniel wade flying out over the first table top as the first race was underway. Wayne Back took a bad start and was seen frantically powering through the pack in his usual aggressive ways. Tom Brown took the lead away from Daniel Wade on lap 2.Craig Dawe raced strong close behind them in third ahead of Matthew Richards. Wayne Back throws his 2 Stroke KTM up to 15th spot. Whilst Wadey pushes hard to regain the lead from Tom Brown. Wayne Back was riding aggressively to take over the great riding Robert Jago. Side by side the riders came flying over the tracks biggest step down, Wayne became a bit out of shape and both riders collided taking each other down hard. Within seconds another rider flew over the jump having to crash in to Wayne without having anywhere to go. Robert Jago picked himself up and got going again after taking a small time out. Whilst Wayne back was unable to finish the race and ended up leaving the meeting soon after. Tom Brown took the first race win of the day ahead of Dan wade and Josh Evans. Race two saw Darren Toy snap up the holeshot. Dan wade later took to the lead with Darren toy putting in maximum efforts behind him in second. Tom Brown later pushed in to second. Wade took the race win ahead of Brown and Toy. Whilst Matthew Richards claimed fourth. The Honda of Tom Brown tore up the Landrake start straight claiming the third race holeshot. Three Quarters into the race the YZF of Craig Dawe took the front spot. Craig put in a solid performance Daniel wade was close behind challenging for another race win. Wade went wide on one of the tracks corners tricking Dawe to go out there and challenge him, Craig Fell for the trap as Dan snuck up the inside line to take the race win away from him. Tom Brown raced strong once again to take the third spot. Mark Callcut took a DNF after taking a hard crash. Daniel wade came out top to take overall victory. Marc Hoskin had a great days riding on his new KXF 250.Tying on points with Rhys Jones back in 22nd and 23rd overall. Whilst mid pack rider San Jose took 15th just one point ahead of 16th overall Colby Walker.
The seniors’ class saw Red Bull pro nationals and Maxxis rider Sunny Thompson on the line.
Race one saw Sunny out front right from the start of the gates dropping as he claimed the first race holeshot.
Cornwall Kawasaki centre KXF250 rider Liam Curtis Stevens puts his best efforts into hanging on to the back of Sunny but is unable to match Sunnys seriously fast pace. New 250F bikes for Sam Fogarty and Liam Collings saw them battle together further down the near full pack of riders.
Sunny Thompson flies over the table top with style to take the first race win. Ahead of Liam Curtis Stevens and the top two stroke rider Bradley Maddever.
Sunny took the race two holeshot as well as the race two win ahead of Liam Curtis Stevens and Jamie orchard. Charles Lawry raced his new 250F which he brought of fellow racer Stuart smith's dad. Charles took a couple of unfortunate falls early on in the race. After swapping places with Charles throughout the beginning laps of the race, Charlene Vernon raced her best to try and keep up with the much more powerful 250F on her Honda cr85.The last few laps saw Charlene catch up and get much closer to Charles. The last lap saw the lady racer of the pack putting maximum effort to get close enough to try and challenge before the race was over. With just two jumps and a couple corners to go Charlene passed Charles on the outside of the corner after the start straight and hang on to the finish line to claim that 1 extra point ahead of him. Race three saw Sunny take the final race win and holeshot claiming overall victory. The race was red flagged early on in the race after Josh Hall cross rutted on one of the tracks corners but escaped any injury. The race was decided to not be re run so an earlier lap records stood for the results. Jack Blackburn had a great days racing taking a brilliant fourth overall, ahead of fifth and sixth overall Jamie Orchard and Jack Stevens. Whilst Ross Damerall took twelfth overall.
Gates dropped for the big wheel 85cc class, with William Hawkins taking the holeshot.
Will was leading the pack with Jack Gribble on his case close behind him.
Jack Gribble flew out wide on a corner passing will for the lead.
A strong Battle was raging between Harry Hart and Jack Penhaligon for fifth as they powered around the track on their CRF150's.Matthew Win. Was riding strong but alone in third. Jack Gribble pulled a solid lead over Hawkins and despite no pressure Jack took an unfortunate fall which handed the race win over to will. Jack crossed the line in second ahead of Matthew Winn. Jack Penhaligon holeshot the second race. Jack gribble was the first rider to fly over the tracks main table top. A great start to help him clear away from the threat of Will Hawkins. Jack pulled another solid lead ahead of Will who maintained a charging pace behind him. Last lap saw jack gribble look unstoppable for the win. But again Jack hit the dirt with just a small section of the track to go. Will flew round to snap up another race win. Matthew Winn took second ahead of Jack Gribble who soon got back up again. Race three saw Hawkins take to the front taking the race holeshot. Jack Gribble took the lead away after the first lap. The race was red flagged due to an accident. The re run of the race saw Jack Gribble take a much deserved race win as he kept it up right with the power on throughout the race to the very end. Will Hawkins took the overall victory after consistent racing. Cameron Young had a fantastic days riding on his CRF150 taking two sixth's and a seventh. Securing sixth overall just one point ahead of seventh overall Adam Dawe who road strong in every race. Luke Yelland raced his KX85 2010 for the first time taking fourteenth overall. Tristan Young road well but did have several mistakes through the day but the good efforts claimed him eighteenth overall.
Small wheel 85cc class saw Jake Curtis Stevens
Take the first race holeshot. Dean Symons had an unusual bad start but strongly comes up through the pack. Billy Northcott raced strong battling with Jack Roberts. Ben Roberts showed some really good jumping skills throughout the race. Bill Gribble took the race win ahead of Brendon Cooper and Josh Bunter whilst Dean Symons secured fourth. Visiting rider Josh Bunter claimed the race two holeshot. Dean Symons had a much better start than he had in the first race. Dean led the pack around with Bill Gribble hanging on to the back of him looking to claim the race win. With Jake Curtis Stevens riding well not far behind them. Dean stayed cool under the pressure he was getting from Bill Gribble but on the last lap Dean Dropped it handing Bill the race win. Dean restarts far down the pack but unharmed from his unfortunate fall that cost him the win. Jack Roberts claimed second ahead of Brendon cooper who took third. Race three saw Brendon Cooper have a great start to take the race holeshot. Bill Gribble and Jack Roberts were the first riders out over the table top. Bill Gribble road strong to power ahead of the pack. Race Buddies Zac Hudson and Ollie Brooks were seen again in a very furious battle as both riders challenged each other to a maximum. Bill Gribble took the race Win ahead of Dean Symons and Josh Bunter.
The junior 65cc class Saw red bull pro rider, and 2009 best of British auto champion. Harry Kimber takes the holeshot. Aiden Williams used his local knowledge of the track to help him stay as close to Harry as he could. Kian Mayho, Sam Johns and Joe hart battled further down the pack. Thomas Andrew was seen back out on his old Kawasaki riding better than he had on his new KTM that he had been riding the past 2 weeks. Aidan Williams had a fantastic rider showing he hold the pace of the Red bull rider Harry Kimber. Harry took the race win with Aiden second and Matthew Treen in third. Harry Kimber claimed the second race holeshot. Harry Kimber led the pack with ease, whilst a big battle for second took place between Aidan Williams and Matthew Treen. Harry took the race win. Whilst Aidan got the edge on Treen in second and third. Harry Kimber again took the holeshot claiming all three of them throughout the day. Young Todd Sawyer stood out in the pack as he was riding his very best all over the back of Alfie Crocker. Harry Kimber took the race win ahead of Aidan and Matt. Whilst the last lap saw Todd Sawyer make his move on Alfie But Alfie held his place to take fourth to secure fourth overall.
A small Class of just seven gutsy automatic racers showed some good racing throughout the day. Race one saw Tyler Rowe charging up the start straight claiming the race holeshot. Tyler soon pulled away from the rest of the small pack leaving Louie Kessel and Morgan Timms to battle for second. Tyler took the race win whilst Louie got the Better of Morgan in second and third. Race two was underway with Tyler Rowe taking the second race holeshot. But Morgan Timms was the first of the riders to come flying out over the main Landrake table top. Morgan road to the best of his ability and held Tyler off until the third lap where Tyler claimed the lead. Tyler took the race win with Morgan taking a strong second. With Louie Kessel taking another third. Whilst newcomer Daniel Stephens started to get to grips with the demanding track. Louie Kessel claimed the holeshot for the final race of the day. Morgan Timms took the lead but had Tyler take it away from him on the second lap. Archie Bees had a good battle with Sam Hunt, But Sam hunt got the edge to take fourth to finish his weekend. Tyler claimed the top spot overall. Whilst best efforts saw Connor Jago take sixth.
