Bromyard
Hosting Club Cotswold
Cotswold Youth & AMX Club hosted one of the four semi-finals being held on June 13th. After running a very wet and muddy meeting at the Bromyard venue a month ago the track had been graded to perfection and was in perfect condition. The Clerk of the Course even arranged a fly-pass by the Red Arrows.
Out first were the AMX group with Rhys Jones leading all three races but Dan Jageilski worked very hard coming from behind to take the three wins. Race two should have seen a different winner with Darrell Simms had an unfortunate tumble which spoit his chance. Joe Preston’s first race was a disaster for him but he really showed his speed in the other races to take a brilliant third overall. Mitch Walker’s second place in race three brought him right up the leader board to give him second overall on the day
Next we saw the Open Class with a superb display of speed and skill from Ashley Thomas who took all three race wins, Adam Cook matched the speed of Thomas but a big get off detuned him but still raced to third position. Rob Lewis looked at home on the big Honda and gained enough points to claim second overall. Ryan Bawn , Chris Morris and Richard Lloyd completed the top six
Senior’s was dominated by Dan Thornhill but the racing was real cut and thrust stuff as the senior racing is these days. Karl Haycock put in a brave performance in race three on his Husky and made Thornhill work hard, but Haycock slipped off which enabled Thornhill to take the maximum. Consistency paid of for Liam Wright and JackTimms (125cc). Tom Herbert and Nick Morris completed the top six
Big wheels saw Jack Gardner take three dominating wins on both 2 stoke and 4 stroke machines. Four points covered the next three positions which were disputed by Alistair Evans in second Rob Holyoake in third and Taylor Vernon in fouth. Two more Cotswold riders completed the top six with Joel Hughes and Dan Craig.
A full grid of frantic small wheels was lead by the low flying Danny Lanfear, the battle behind him was the Suzuki’s of Rob Yates and Tyron Cleaver. Henry Williams and Dan Wheeler pushed their KTM’S to the limit enthralling position swapping from all rider’s. Luke Craig took a brilliant fifth spot two points clear of Jordan Saunders.
Last out were the Juniors and after his overall win at the Rhayader Cub’s National Alex Walton has matured into one tidy rider not lacking speed the tall youngster liking of the reversed Bromyard circuit by taking another overall.Owen Woodhouse did not give up chasing Walton in all the races as did Ryan Rowlands on Woodhouse. Callum Gasson rode to a creditable fourth spot two points ahead of Brooklyn Evans with Jamie Evans completing the top six. A mention must go to Brad Priest for a brilliant effort but a tumble in race three put him out of the top ten.

Stratford Upon Avon
Hosting Club Coventry,
BSMA Semi
Coventry Junior Motocross Club held their BSMA Semi-Final round at their home track of Stratford-upon-Avon. The changes made to the track were fantastic and bark was spread across the track, making it an enjoyable ride and a great days racing. Attending clubs were Coventry, East Kent and East Anglia and all riders were fighting for that top ten finish.
Out first were the Open Class and Lee Bullock was untouchable in all three races, making him first through to the Finals. Another rider who took quickly to the track was Charlie Heatley, who rode well for second place in all three races. Ben Rocks had a great day with third place in the first two races; however Mitchell Bates had his best result of the day to take third in the final race. Overall third place went to Ben.
Next out were the AMX and the competition was high between the top four riders. Race one saw Arron Jenner take the race win ahead of Charles Davies in second and Richard McDermott in third. Race two and Charles had a flyer of a race to take the win away from Arron, who had to settle for second. After an unfortunate first race Ricky Lethaby had a point to prove and did so by taking third place. The final race saw Arron speed the pace up to take the race win, with Charles pushing hard to keep up in second. Richard also had to fight hard to keep Ricky at bay to take third place. Overall it was Arron who took the win, Charles in second with Richard third.
Race one for the Seniors saw David Sweet take and immense lead over the rest of the pack to take the win. Lewis Dowsett had a fantastic ride to take second place ahead of Jake Lord in third. Race two and David again took the race win, however it didn’t come so easily as Jordan Divall was on his back wheel pushing him all the way to the line. Nathan Buckland had a fantastic ride to take third place. The final race came and Jordan Divall pushed hard to get the better of David and take the race win. Jake Lord had another superb ride to take another third place.
The Big Wheel 85s next saw yet another runaway winner in the form of Jack Eldridge, who dominated he class at the front. Chasing him down in each race was Daniel Packman, who had an excellent ride in second. Daniel Neale also had a consistent great day to take third in each race and guarantee himself a place in the final.
Mitchell Lewis led from beginning to end in race one for the Small Wheel 85s, holding off Conner Hughes in second and Tommie Schofield in third. Race two and it was a close race at the front and Conner Hughes rode a determined race to take the lead with just a lap to go and ride his bike to victory just ahead of Mitchell in second. This time it was Austin Eary who had an amazing race to take third. The final race and Mitchell fought back to take his second win of the day. Oliver Benton got to full grips with the track to take a hard earned second place, with Tommie coming back into the picture to take another well ridden third place.
Finally there were the Juniors and Dylan Woodcock was on fire as he took all three of the race wins. Race on it was Callum Green who chased him down to take second place ahead of Luke Horley who rode his best race in third. Race two and Tom Lockhart battled with Callum to take second place with Callum in third. The final race and Callum and Tom were again battling for second place, this time with Callum taking second and Tom third.
It was a great day and with such close racing it was no surprise there were a couple of incidents; we hope those riders are back to full fitness and riding again soon. Well done to all who rode and congratulations to the top 10 who are through to the BSMA Finals. Also thank you to the Coventry Club for holding such a good meeting.
