Coventry held their club championship round and first Auto Challenge Club at Turnpost farm. It was yet another boiling hot day but so much work had gone into track preparation that it held up beautifully for the whole day. The races ran smoothly and were even finished in time for the football.
First were the Open Class and the top three were in a league of their own. It was Scott Bates first race back after injury but it didn’t seem to affect his riding as he took the race one win. Following him though in second was Mitchell Bates with Luke Dowsing in third. Race two and Luke had a fantastic ride to take the race win, pushing Scott back into second and Mitchell third. Race three and Scott picked up the pace to take the final race win. Mitchell also picked up his pace to get back to second, leaving Luke to take third. Overall it was Scott who took the win, with the race two win Luke took third with Mitchell third.
Next were the AMX and Darren Carter was untouchable as he took all three race wins. Richard Gray fought hard to keep up in second for all three races whilst all the while keeping off Scott Hambridge, who kept the pressure on in third. Overall Darren took the win, Richard second and Scott third.
Seniors race one saw Kurt Shorter have a great race to take the race win. Jordan Loomes also had a good race to take second with Nathan Buckland third. Race two and Nathan had an impressive ride to take his first ever race win. Kurt rode well to take second with Jake Lord having his best race of the day in third. Race three and Jordan had a superb ride to take the race win. Kurt kept his pace up to take another second place with Nathan having another great ride in third. Overall Kurt took the win, Jordan second with Nathan third.
Jacob Hartwell had a flyer in his first race for the Big Wheels 85s to take the race win. Conor Bostock pushed hard to take second ahead of Toby Scott in third. Race two and Conor was on top form as he took the race win. Nicolas Gray had his best race of the day to take second place with Jacob keeping pace to take third. Conor finished his day on a high, taking the final race win. Kyle Narczyk also finished on a high as he had an amazing ride to take second with Toby pushing himself back into the top three. Overall Conor took the win, Jacob in second and Toby third.
The competition was high in the Small Wheel 85s between Oliver Benton and Mitchell Warhurst battling for the win. Oliver rode hard and kept Mitchell at bay to take the first two race wins. Race three and Mitchell just got the better of Oliver to take the win. Danny Vieira also had a superb day of racing as he pushed hard to take third in all three races.
Juniors were next and Callum Green had to keep his wits about him to take the win as he held off Daniel Van Der Hoeven who was glued to the back of him in second with Ryan Manley in third. Race two and Daniel rode a brilliant race to take the win. Ethan Cooper had a fantastic ride to take second place with Ryan again taking third. Race three and Ethan continued to improve as he took the final race win. Ryan also kept himself in the picture taking a well deserved second place. Daniel made the lap scorers smile with his pure determination as he tried finishing without his bike after falling off on the last corner. Even after going back to get it he still managed to take third place. Daniel managed to keep hold of the overall first place with Ethan second and Ryan third.
Lewis Brown had no such troubles in the Autos as he rode an excellent day of racing to take all three race wins. For races one and two Reece Martin had two great rides to take second, holding off James Hanscombe in third. James wouldn’t settle for another third in race three as he stormed round to take second place, with Harrison McCann proudly taking third place. Lewis took the overall win, Reece in second and James third.
It was a great day of riding by all as they battled through the heat for some captivating races. Best wished to Callum Green, hope you’re ok and back racing soon.
