Hot and dry was the order of the day for Coventry’s meeting at Burntwalls MX Track in Daventry. Repeated bowser loads of water ensured racing could commence with the Open Class out first and Scott Bates didn’t let the heat or a coming together of another rider stop him from taking the race one win from Mark Boswell in 2nd and Mitchell Bates in 3rd. Race two and another blinding win for Scott Bates, 2nd this time for his brother Mitchell Bates and 3rd for Mark Boswell. The final race after lunch saw these three again on the prodium with Scott taking the win and maximum points, Mark Boswell 2nd and Mitchell Bates 3rd.
The AMX class saw Scott Hambridge work hard for his race win with Shane Reid chasing him down, unfortunately one of them looked like they was going down over the whoops and one did ! Shane crashed out hard leaving the way clear for Simon Whitting to take 2nd place and 3rd for Karl Jacques. Race two and another win for Scott Hambridge and this time Shane Reid stayed on the bike and took a well deserved 2nd place with 3rd going to Simon Whitting. The final race and another win for Scott giving him maximum points, 2nd for Simon Whitting and 3rd for Shane Reid.
The little Auto’s went out next for their 2nd round of the Auto Challenge Cup Series and what a race it was. James Hanscombe took a blinder of a win with the crowd cheering all the way, 2nd for Aaron Patstone and 3rd for Tyrone Brown. Race two and again James Hanscombe had the edge to take the win followed this time by Tyrone Brown and 3rd for Aaron Patstone. The final race and a brilliant win for Aaron Patstone 2nd for James Hanscombe and 3rd for Tyrone Brown. A truly entertaining racing group.
Callum Green dominated the Juniors with three race wins and Daniel Van Der Hoeven taking three 2nd places. 3rd place in race one went to Bradley Clarke, race two and 3rd for Dylan Spencer and race three 3rd for Ethan Cooper. Well done guys.
Jack Evans stormed to a race victory in the first Small Wheel race followed by Benjamin Kind in 2nd Luke Wade in 3rd. Race two and this time a win for Danny Vieira, 2nd going to Jack Evans and 3rd for Nathan Shaw. The final race and a show down followed but it was Jack Evans that took the race win with 2nd going to Ben Kind and 3rd for Danny Vieira.
The Big Wheels group saw Daniel Neale take the race one win with visiting Luke Wightman in 2nd and Jac Kearsley 3rd. Race two and another convincing win for Daniel Neale and then a well deserved 2nd place going to Jac Kearsley with Toby Scott finally getting on the podium in 3rd place. The final race and maximum points for Daniel Neale with his final win, Jac kearsley got into the habit and took another 2nd place and third going to the newly upgraded Cory Green.
The final racing group of the day saw David Sweet take the race one win even after getting stung by a wasp on the way ! 2nd place went to a hard chasing Nathan Buckland and 3rd for Kurt Shorter. Race two and Kurt Shorter shot out of that gate and wasn’t giving up his position for nobody finally crossing the chequered flag as the winner, 2nd again for Nathan Buckland and 3rd for David Sweet. The final race of the afternoon and a thrilling race followed with David Sweet ensuring no-one took his racing crown with yet another race win despite Nathan Buckland trying his hardest who crossed the line in 2nd place . A tussle ensued for the 3rd place between Tom Allsopp and Kurt Shorter but it was Tom Allsopp that managed to stay on the bike and take the final podium place with a 3rd spot. Great Racing !
Many thanks to Luke and his staff at Burntwalls and to everyone that worked their socks off to ensure despite the heat and the dryness CJMX managed yet again to hold a good race meeting with three blocks and everyone went home safe. Roll on Stratford 2 Dayer at the end of the month.
