East Anglia SSC held round six of the club championships at the recently revamped Chatteris circuit. The track was very well prepared as usual and the changes to the track were well received by the competitors and spectators alike. The weather was fantastic all day with some equally fantastic racing throughout all classes. The club would like to thank Victor Trophies for sponsoring the meeting.
The Auto’s were out first on a slightly shortened track which didn’t hamper the action at all. Drew Anderson and Jason Edwards battled hard all day with Drew taking wins in moto’s one and three and second in moto two which was enough to take the overall over Jason’s 2, 1, 2 score card, which secured second place on the day. Pacey Forsdike put in three consistent moto’s to come home overall third.
The Juniors were out on track next with some equally frantic action with a different winner in all three moto’s. Ashley Surridge took the win in moto one followed by a second and fourth which was enough to take overall top spot. Fred Flowers took second in moto one followed by a win in moto two, but a problem at the start cost him the overall finishing fifth and second place overall. Ryan Allison finished third with a consistent ride, but the win in moto three went to Sean Stamp who took his first ever victory at East Anglia.
The Small Wheel 85’s was a great one to watch as the racing at the front was fast and intense. Austin Eary and Jacob Warner traded wins in moto’s one and two, Austin taking moto one and Jacob who took his first win with East Anglia, moto two. Austin gated well in moto three taking the win which secured the overall. Jacob finished third in moto three which gave him second overall on the day. Tommie Schofield took all three holeshots and put in a gritty and consistent ride for third overall.
The Big Wheel 85’s hit the track next with another first time winner who in this case managed to take the overall also, Harry Mills put together an excellent day taking wins in moto’s one and three and second in moto two which saw him take his first overall win with East Anglia. Jordan Pasquale charged hard taking second in moto’s one and three and a win in moto two secured him second overall. Russell Cramp who suffered with his starts all day having to charge through the pack in every race, managed to take the final spot on the podium for third overall.
Out next was the AMX with a packed line up and some great action throughout the pack. Declan Burke put together the only maximum of the day taking all three moto’s in style and the overall top spot. Jason Varnham battled hard all day two seconds and a fourth to come home second overall on the day. Nicky Dadds put on three consistent rides to secure the third and final spot on the podium.
The Open class was a great one to watch for the spectators as the front three battled hard all day with some very close racing. Charlie Heatley took second in moto one but put together great rides taking the win in moto’s two and three for the overall. Ben Rocks charged through to take second place overall with William King having a consistent day in third.
The Veterans was very close at the top with Dean Suckling taking his first overall win at East Anglia, but was followed very closely by Chris Keeble who took second place overall and Nigel Mayes Third.
The Seniors were the last to race on a track that was starting to become a bit dusty but this didn’t hamper the racing as the action was fast and exciting. John Eaton took the overall with third in moto one but followed up with wins in the final two moto’s. Rob Nicoll looked smooth taking the win in moto one followed by second in moto’s two and three which secured second spot overall. Rheis Morter improved as the day went on coming home overall third on the day.
The club would like to thank everyone who turned up and hope you had a great day of racing and would like to see you all at our next meeting, which is a two day meeting at Honda Park, Thorsway on the 5th and 6th of June.
