East Kent is the only schoolboy motocross club based in Kent. We race at various tracks in Kent, Surrey and E Sussex. Our riders range from 6 years old to late 40’s! We run fortnightly in the summer and monthly in the winter.
Once a year we hold a meeting at the famous Canada Heights track near Swanley – this is the only chance that schoolboy riders get to ride this marvellous track if they are not taking part in any of the national championships. We have a full calendar and also take part in all the BSMA events as well – the Semi-Finals, Finals and the Team Event. New members are always welcome – please contact Ann by phone or email for more details.web address www.ekssc.co.uk

The winners take it all!
Glorious sunshine and blue skies welcomed the East Kent club back to Ringmer for round eight of their Summer Championship. Even though the track had been watered at the start of the day the track still seemed hard and dry. All the riders knew that they were going to have to work hard for their points at this meeting. Only two blocks of racing were to be had with their best results carrying over for their third round due to accidents during the day. Our best wishes go out to all for a speedy recovery and a quick return to racing. On another note it is great to see so many new riders and novice riders too joining the club. They all seem to be enjoying themselves and are always eager to get out onto the tracks.
Out first and setting a very quick pace on the hardened track were the Small Wheels. With adrenaline running through their veins they waited for the start gate to drop. Mitchell Lewis was to take the first holeshot of the day and was soon being chased by two visitors in the shape of Brett Pocock and Bradley Matthews who were hot on his tail round the first bend. Mitchell wasted no time in pulling away from the boys with a great lead in race one and stayed out in front for the whole race to give him 1st place. Brett and Bradley however had to settle in fighting it out between them for 2nd and 3rd place, with Brett just holding on and sitting comfortably in 2nd place with Bradley having to settle with 3rd place. Race two again saw Mitch to get his second holeshot of the day and to take the lead from start to finish giving him first overall. Once again visitor Brett Pocock was chasing Mitchell hard but with Mitchell slamming the door shut tight Brett had to settle again for 2nd place and second overall. It was Taylor Smith this time who chased Brett home for 3rd.
Next out were the Big Wheels and Steven Robinson took the holeshot and the lead in race one. It looked as if it was all going to go Steven’s way as he led for most of the race, with Toby Stubberfield and Jack Eldridge chasing him behind in 2nd and 3rd place. There was a change for second place as Jack reeled Toby in to overtake him. Once passed Toby, Jack worked on taking the lead from Steven but every time he tried to overtake Steven slammed the door shut. With one last push and a quicker pace Jack took the lead and the win to give him 1st place. Steven had to settle for a well-deserved 2nd place with Toby to follow the boy’s home in 3rd. In race two, Toby was to get a great start to take the holeshot and the lead. Following behind were Dan Guy and Jack Humber trying to catch him. Dan was still sitting in second and just about to take the lead when he fell. Chasing up the pack from second to last place after getting tangled on the first bend to snatch the lead from Toby was, yes you guessed it, Jack Eldridge. Jack had an outstanding win to take 1st overall. Toby had to settle for 2nd place with Steven Robinson in 3rd. Jack Humber who had rode well in the race had to settle with a 4th place win.
In the Senior group it was to be Jordan Divall’s day he took both holeshots and led from start to finish in both races to give him 1st overall. It was the battle for second and third place that was interesting in both blocks of racing which saw in race one Lewis Moyle and Kieran Clarke battle it out between them with Lewis just holding on to take 2nd and Kieran having to settle with 3rd. Even though John Waghorne had just missed out in the first race he was to take a well-deserved 2nd in race two with Lewis Dowsett and Kieran Clarke to try and catch him. Lewis got the edge on Kieran but couldn’t quite find that little extra push he needed to catch John and had to settle with a 3rd place. This was John’s best result so far in the Seniors here at East Kent!
The Amx were next and Arron Jenner was the rider up in front to take the holeshot and the lead. Arron was to lead the whole race from start to finish taking 1st place. Behind Arron it was Dave Capper with Wildman Willis on his tail for a taste of the action and the chase for second place. Dave rode extremely well and held off Wildman for 2nd place. This meant Wildman had to settle with 3rd. Race two was a close call for the hole shot which saw Arron and Joe Cundle neck and neck at the first corner. I wouldn’t want to try and call that one! But Arron, who was riding the race on a borrowed bike, just got the edge to once again take the lead and to dominate the race from start to finish taking his second 1st place and 1st overall. It was Stuart Keen chasing this time and again Wildman wasn’t far behind to add to the pressure for that 2nd place finish. Stuart was able to just hold on to take 2nd with Wildman again riding home in 3rd.
Out came the Juniors with visitor Matthew Pocock taking the hole shot and the lead in race one. Hot on Pocock’s tail was Tom Lockhart who put on the pressure to take the lead in the final lap and the win, which meant Matthew had to settle for 2nd place. Reagan Brooks followed the boy’s home in 3rd. Race two saw Luke “holeshot” Horley take the holeshot and also to lead the first lap. Tom was to step up the pace and take the lead to stay out in front for another 1st place and for 1st overall. Little Gary Ashley was putting the pressure on Tom and was riding at his best to nearly take the lead from Tom when an unlucky mistake cost Gary second place to finish in 7th. The door was wide open for Louis Cloud to take 2nd place with Luke Horley to finish in 3rd.
Finally it was the Autos and Jake Sinden just couldn’t wait to get to the first bend as he took the holeshot in the first race. Jake applied the power full on to take the lead and stayed out in front for the whole race. Rhys Cooper tried so hard to try and catch Jake but he just couldn’t find that extra push that he needed to catch him which resulted in Rhys taking 2nd place. In 3rd place it was Jack Nixon to follow home. Race two saw little Rhys Cooper take the holeshot this time and also the lead. To be chased by Jake who was after another win. Jake wasted no time in closing the gap to take the lead and his second win of the day to give him 1st overall. Rhys again had to settle with 2nd to give him 2nd place overall with Jack close behind in 3rd to give him 3rd place overall. What an outstanding ride by Jake who has just completed his 10 novice rides. Well done!
Interesting to see that all the winners won both races in their groups! A big thank you goes out to the paramedics for all their hard work, also to the committee and their band of merry workers and finally to the land owners. See you all at Staplehurst for round nine, which sounds like it will be an interesting meeting!
