Coventry Club ‘s 1^st meeting of the year at their home track Stratford resulted in 180 riders attending the meeting on a fully graded and prime circuit despite the recent poor English weather, and the club did well to get everyone into the paddock following a heavy down poor late Saturday.

The AMX Class kicked off the day’s racing after a later than normal start on the Sunday due to the Club’s medical provider being caught up in a fatality on the motorway with visiting Jordan Bachelor showing the rest of the pack how to master the demanding track that is Stratford with an excellent first race win followed by Joseph Russell in 2^nd and Ricky Lethaby in 3^rd. Race two and again Jordan took the win with an outstanding ride by Jake Lord in 2^nd place and Joseph Russell in 3^rd after his Hole Shot.

The Seniors saw Curtis Blamey cruise to a first race win with Daniel Neale in 2^nd and an excellent race for Joe Tobutt in 3^rd place. Race two and hole shot for Curtis Blamey followed by his 2^nd race win this time closely followed home by Daniel Neale in 2^nd and Gareth Artus in 3^rd who didn’t let his first race gremlins keep him down.

Josh Spinks dominated the Open Class with the first race win with returning to the club Scott Hubbard taking 2^nd and Luke Haughton in 3^rd. Race two and hole shot for Josh Spinks together with a deserving second race win, Scott Hubbard again 2^nd and 3^rd this time for Brad Doyle who battled Luke for the remaining podium place.

The old age pensioners next to the line (the over 45’s) and the first race win for Richard Main, second for Luke Brown and third for Sean Doyle. Race two and this time the win for Luke Brown with Richard Main taking 2^nd and the hole shot and third place going again to Sean Doyle. The crowd love this race and we eagerly await their next race.

Big Wheels Race one saw a brilliant, entertaining race from start to the finish line with Henry Siddiqui taking the win followed by Mitchell Warhurst in second and Harry Linton in an excellent third place. Matt Brame constantly battled to keep 4^th place from Tyrone Cleaver in 5^th.

Callum Green blitzed his way to the win in the Small Wheel group with Dylan Spencer taking 2^nd place and Charlie Kent taking 3^rd after battling the whole race. Kieran Ryan raced his heart out for 4^th place and an excellent race for Lewis Huckerby in 5^th.

The very talented Juniors saw James Hyett cross the finish line first ahead of Battling Ben White in 2^nd and Dylan Woodhall in 3^rd. Harrison McCann tried everything to get onto the podium but ended with 4^th place and 5^th going to Jacob Russell.

Finally the Auto’s had their outing onto the tricky Stratford circuit but William Hyett made the race his own with an excellent first place win ahead of Kyle ingram in 2^nd and Riley Harrison in 3^rd. Jack Lillyman and Kayde Rayns battled non stop with Jack taking 4^th and Kayde 5^th.

Race 2 of the Big Wheels saw Tommy Pittaway fly out of the start to take the hole shot but unfortunately due to an injury to a rider the race was stopped in the 3^rd lap.

Following the length of time it took to treat the injured rider and with wet weather on the horizon and closing in quickly the decision was taken to stop the meeting and present the trophies and prize money together with 1,2,3 goody bags kindly donated by Pro-Green MX to the winners and enable the riders and their families to leave the paddock and head for home.

Finally, the weather held out for the third round of the East Anglia Schoolboy Scrambling Clubs Summer Championship, where the sun was shining down on the popular sand track of Wildtracks.

After some heavy rain on the Saturday and overnight, the track was rather wet and deep in places on Sunday morning. However throughout the day, it dried out to make some perfect conditions for a great days racing with near full line ups in every group.

First up to help with the track conditions were the Seniors with some tight battles and constant changing of positions within the top six riders. Joe Borrett took the top spot with two holeshots and a win in the last race. Sid Evans put up a great battle throughout the day to clinch second with Russell Cramp having a consistent day securing him third. Some outstanding riding from Jordan Pasquale who led the last race for a while see him in fourth with Ashley Campbell finishing fifth.

Super Shaun Southgate was the top rider in the AMX Open Group who wasted no time in storming to the front claiming a maximum overall. Junior Thomas had problems in the first race, but showed some impressive riding in the last two to take second spot. Charlie Heatley battled hard in all three motos to claim a well deserved third. Mark Sharman and Craig Down rounded out the top five.

Next to battle it out in the deep rutty sand was the AMX group with some stiff competition. Arron Jenner was on top form taking a maximum overall however Carl Parker made him work off the start in two races. Carl took two holeshots and showed some impressive riding to take second overall. Mark Hunt had some great battles throughout the day to snatch third position with Paul Kilsby and John Eaton finishing off the top five.

The AMX Veterans were privileged to again have their own race with a great number of riders rather than being mixed with the AMX Open. Tim Clarke dominated this group taking first overall with three race victory’s. Paul Willis and Matt French battled it out throughout the day for podium positions. Paul came out on top with two seconds and a third., with Matt having to settle with third place overall. Chris Keeble and Brian Carter rode with great determination to secure fourth and fifth.

Now it was time for the young guns to take to the track who struggled in places with the boggy conditions, but worked hard having some great battles throughout the field.

Turbo Tommy Schofield was on form once again in the 85cc big wheels winning all three races to take the maximum overall. Second place went to Joshua Keeble who had a consistent days racing gaining second in all three races. Michael Eggett took home third with Jack Carter and Kyle Wilby rounding out the top five.

The small-wheel 85cc group was a small group this weekend however had some tight competition within the top three riders. Lewis Cloud came out on top with two race wins and a second. Drew Anderson battled his way to second overall with Ryan Allison finishing in third with a holeshot in the last race. Daniel Sultana and Carl Budge put on a great performance finishing in the top five.

Next on the line were the Junior 65’s who found the track difficult in places to begin with, however showed some smooth riding towards the end of the day. Ike Carter dominated the group taking three holeshots and race wins to take the top spot on the podium. The next four riders had some great battles out in the sunshine with Bobby Bruce claiming second spot and Olly Davidson settling for third with some outstanding riding. Jordan Gull and Tai Elvin-Andrews were close behind in fourth and fifth.

The Autos was dominated by Harvey Cashmore with three straight wins giving him a maximum overall. Club rider Callam Murfitt had an impressive days riding battling his way to second with Alfie Jones being awarded third place. Freddie Wyard and Harrison Borg both had a great days riding finishing in the top five.

A cold chilly morning greeted the riders at a very well prepared sandy Sherwood for the track walk and signing on before practice got under way with the MXY2 Senior group.

A steady drizzle started whilst the Seniors went out for their first race of the day with Oli Benton having a flyer of a race, battling all the way with Joshua Bentley in send and Robert Yates in third who did well to recover from an early incident. Race two and Joshua Bentley got the holeshot but Robert Yates took the win from Daniel Neale in second and Robert Ainsley in third. Oliver Benton did well to finish after having a bad off whilst up the front of the pack.

The track coped well with the drizzle but the cold was setting in and making the track slippery in parts so the decision was made to only run two blocks which the riders and followers all seemed to agree with.

The plucky Auto riders did well to cope with the conditions of the ever changing track but it was Charlie Heyman who battled the most to take a well deserved first race win ahead of Kyle ingram in send and Cameron Box in third. Race two and the holeshot prize went to Charlie Heyman who also crossed the finish first ahead of the pack with a brilliant ride by Tyler Etheridge to take send and Harley Rutler ever improving to take a deserved third place.

A good group of Juniors saw Lewis Hall dominate the group with a first race win followed to the line by Lewis Wood in second and Dalton Dring in third. Race two and the holeshot went to Lewis Wood who flew out of the gate but Lewis Hall battled away to snatch the win with Lewis Wood second and Aaron Brown improving no end to take third place.

A large group of Small Wheel riders gave the crowd some cracking racing to watch and it was a real pleasure to see Callum Green take the first race win ahead of a battling Jordan Hearn in second and Denny Rapson in third. Race two and another win and holeshot for Callum Green, Denny Rapson took send and Jordan Hearn took the third place.

The nearly full Big Wheel class saw Dexter Doulgas dominate the group with a brilliant first race win ahead of a battling Mitchell Warhurst in second and Daniel Shepherd in third. Race two and Dexter took the holeshot and crossed the line just ahead of Mitchell warhurst with a stunning ride by Kathryn Booth to take the third place podium position.

The MX2 lads chopped and changed all through both races but the eventual winner in the first race was Rob Wood with Matt Wood in second and a great performance by Ricky Lethaby to take third place. Race two and The Holeshot and race win went to Dan Thornhill with Rob Wood taking second and third place going to a deserving Scott Hambridge.

The final group of the day and a brilliant win by Josh Spinks in the first MX1 Open race with Scott Bates battling all the way to take second and Matthew Porter third. The final holeshot and Josh Spinks made sure it was his as was the race win. Matt Porter just snatched second place from Scott Bates in third. Brilliant racing guys.
