SHAWBURY WAS THE PLACE TO BE FOR BSMA FINALS
BSMA FINALS 2014 at SHAWBURY
The BSMA 2014 Finals were held this weekend at the fully revamped Shawbury track, Nr Shrewsbury. The efforts of the WEM Club in preparation and the support from all the other clubs made for a super well run event in perfect weather conditions.
The Automatics started proceedings and had no problem with the sandy conditions Zac Dunton was the overall winner but had to work hard as several of these young rider have improved during the season, taking 3 wins. Jake Randall was runner up and quickest into the hole shot corner his efforts giving him a win in race 4. Joe Brookes, the first race winner always looked to be a podium finisher was just 1 point behind in 3rd. Consistent riding by Tyler Smith who finished 4th, one point in front of Ben Mustoe whose chances were blown in race 3 and 4 podium positions with Roan Delaney, 2 points adrift in 6th.
Juniors were next to the line with Charlie Palmer taking maximum points despite the efforts of Billy Duke challenging him all weekend. Bryn Brookes finished a creditable 3rd with some top 3 results always chasing hard. Fast gating Morgan Evans finished 4th with good points ahead of Tomos Wright who was always involved in the mix never far behind. Ethan Sills finished in 6th with an excellent 3rd place in race three spoiled by disaster in race 4.
small Wheel 65cc saw Dominic Lancett on a maximum but was pushed hard by James Hanscombe, who was fast out of the gate every race. These 2 riders dominated all weekend Jaydon Murphy took the final podium position working hard and never out of the top 3 Marshall Smith improving all weekend finishing 4th getting the better of Kyle Biggs and Ben Watkins these 3 always contesting the minor positions in the competitive group.
Big Wheel 85 with 3 different race winners provided some excellent racing Aiden Williams finishing first overall with battling last race to take Oliver Consterdine on the last lap. Oliver had a gate to flag opener showing his pace, Brooklyn Evans was relegated to 3rd after a series of good results winning race 4 but a poor last race left him short at the end. Jordan Riley after a disaster in race 1 finished strong to finish 4th ahead of Mikey Watson, Sam Beresford and Dean Palmer. Unluckiest pilot Nathan Bache with a DNF in race 4 costing him dear.
Senior were dominated by Kieron Cooke with 4 super wins and a safe 2nd to Dan Wheeler who hole shotted race 3 to spoil his maximum. Second place went to a consistent Alex Walton who was never out of the top 3. Third overall was Dan Wheeler who dropped vital points in race 1 not even a win was enough to overhaul Walton at the end. Joe Seedhouse with some electric starts was unable to hold on but finished a comfortable 4th with Alfie Crocker 5th , Josh Bunter and Ethan Davies equal on points in 6th and 7th.
AMX race 1 saw Chris Grindle with a gate to flag win, but it was obvious it was not going to be easy with Truman brothers battling hard all weekend. Race 2 again saw Grindle fast away but this time being overtaken by Bridgestone Mounted Rob Yates to take the win. Race3 with Lee and Tim Truman challenging Rob Yates but an engine failure forcing him to push home with Lee in 1st from Tim and Chris Grindle. Race 4 saw Lee and Rob battling to the line with Lee taking the win from Rob with Tim 3rd and Grindle 4th. The final encounter saw Tim taking the spoils but his efforts were not enough as it left him 2 points adrift at the end from overall winner Lee. Chris Grindle finished 3rd from Liam Curtis Stevens with the unlucky Rob Yates despite a 3rd in the last moto in 5th with Thomas O’Connor completing the top 6.
Open Class was dominated by Gary Davies his task made easier with first race winner Darrel Simms crashing out in race 3 and not able to continue. The battle was left to Shaun Buchan, Davies was never challenged. Tom Herbert and Nathan Parsons raced hard for the minor positions with Jon Evans and Richard Evans in 5th and 6th respectively.
Thanks to our sponsor Lockton Insurance for providing the excellent trophies presented by Gary Davies and to all who helped run this excellent event.
Look forward to seeing you all at the Final round of the Bridgestone BSMA Clubman’s Series on 23/24 August at Penybont.
