You’ve got Malin! Bridgestone secure motocross star’s services

Bridgestone is ramping up its plans to make 2015 a year to remember in the world of motocross, after securing the services of a UK legend to promote its range of critically acclaimed tyres.

Multiple British champion Paul Malin will add his considerable presence to Bridgestone’s day of riding at Apex Motocross in Worcester on February 19, which will showcase the brand’s X30 and X40 motocross tyres.

The former world number two and ‘MX of Nations’ winner will test the products and get a feel for the tyres himself at the day of free riding, which is open for enthusiasts to attend from 10am to 3pm.

It is one of the biggest and most comprehensive motocross events ever organised by Bridgestone, aimed at positioning the brand as a number one choice amongst participants.

Two Kawasaki KX250Fs and a pair of Kawasaki KX450s will be available to ride on the day, which will also feature guest appearances by Motors TV commentator Amy Dargan and Bike Channel presenter Suzy Taylor.

Amy and Suzy will be on hand to sign autographs, pose for pictures and add their familiar voices to proceedings, which are expected to be a big hit with enthusiasts.

Seven time Dakar Rally competitor Mick Extance will also get to grips with the tyres, which he praised during initial tests at his off-road school in Powys when they were launched.

Bridgestone’s training development manager Mark Fereday said: “It is a real coup for us to have Paul Malin with us for our day of riding in February.

“Paul is one of the UK’s most talented and decorated riders and to have him testing out our tyres and offering his expert feedback will be invaluable.”

The free event arrives on the back of Bridgestone’s recent announcement to extend its title sponsorship of the BSMA’s Clubman’s Series in 2015, which showcases some of motocross’s brightest young talents at races across the UK.

The brand has also agreed to sponsor young Gloucestershire talent Jack Timms for the new season, while extending an existing partnership with Worcestershire’s Rob Yates for a further 12 months.

Both Rob, aged 17, and Jack, 19, will be competing in the BSMA’s Clubman’s Series, amongst other national series, on their 250s and will be supported with clothing, tyres and essential equipment.

As well as the provision of Kawasaki bikes, riders can also use their own bikes for the remainder of the day, at a cost £33.
